Yep I was as disappointed in tonight’s BET Award Show as you were.

So I went to Youtube.com and found some clips of award show performances that don’t suck.

The key to not sucking on a stage of that size: Have classic material, bring the energy and don’t forget bring some talent!!!!

I know, I know, that’s kinda hard for some of the performers of the day bu tmaybe there reading this and watching the clips below and will either commit career suicide or step their game up!!!!

Nuff said.

I can’t say I’m overly sad over the passing of Michael Jackson, after a couple major losses in my own life I personally view death of people I don’t really know a little different. I choose to celebrate what I did know about them. Michael Joseph Jackson was one of the baddest singer/song writer/performers any generation has seen. I enjoyed his music privately and enjoy playing it in the clubs, family reunions or anywhere that will let me be me. I believe we all knew James Brown was one of Mike’s influences. I also believe we all chose a side in the debate over the better entertainer, Prince or Michael. I really didn’t know what to post until I ran into this really rare clip of James Brown, Michael Jackson and Prince on stage together. You can see what both have taken from the Godfather of Soul. You can also see a little competion between the two, but most of all we see talents unlike anything probably to be viewed again in our lifetime.

I know I’ve been away for a while but I come back bearing gifts. I have a new toy, an IPhone!!! You know I’m packing it with some really good music. I’m putting a lot of new stuff that your favorite radio station won’t be playing, but I’m putting some classic material on there as well. This week’s song is about a year old, that’s still relatively new for most of you. The song is calles Angel and it’s from the oh so classic Chaka Khan’s latest album Funk This. This song kinda sounds like a Luther Vandross song but it’s really a good sad song, figure that one out. If you had no clue she had a new album out it is cool. Just stay focused and catch the hell up!!!

It’s Friday and I know the song of the week is a little late…but I was really contemplating posting a Soulja Boy song. My son Justice has me singing Turn My Swag on religously. I’m glad to say Soulja Boy didn’t make to the cut although it was close. The song I chose may bring back some memories to your high school years. The song Baby Don’t Cry by Lalah Hathaway is possibly my favorite song of all time. when this came out I was fresh to the games of love and yes I to was a victim. It was like she was sing to me telling me it was gonna be alright. Thank you Video Soul for airing this video. And thank you Lalah for sing to my heart. And if the girl that did me dirty is reading this thank you too, you kinda gave this song purpose in my life.

Side Bar-my crush on Ms. Hathaway remains to this day.

Favortite song this week!!

People are constantly hitting me on FaceBook asking what it is  that I’m listening to or what’s out there  they can bang in there cd player(more than likely their IPOD), so I decided to post the song that get’s the most run in my truck or laptop. For some Glorious reason I have been led to this particular song right here. It’s call the God In Me and it is off of Mary Mary’s newest cd called The Sound. For me the song is an aspiration soon to be a proclamation, but upon listening to the lyrics I’ve had to look back at people that fit the words description. Nevertheless the first installment to this portion of my blog is of the gospel nature. Surprised? Don’t be, Sam told you change was coming.
